|
| Dr. Quertermous is currently the William
G. Irwin Professor of Medicine and Director of the Division
of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford University. He was also
recently appointed as Director of the Donald W. Reynolds Cardiovascular
Clinical Research Center at Stanford. This Center, which was
awarded $24 million by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, is
developing a massive-scale research study to better understand
the genetic basis of cardiovascular disease. |
Dr. Quertermous was
one of the first scientists to apply molecular biology methods
to the study of the physiology and pathophysiology of the
blood vessel wall. Interests in his laboratory over the past
years have been extended to encompass embryonic development
of the cardiovascular system, and a number of unique genes
with novel therapeutic value have been cloned and linked
to development of the blood vessel. Currently his laboratory
is investigating the role of a new developmental molecule
in vascular development, as well as evaluating genes involved
in endothelial cell differentiation.
|
| Dr. Quertermous received his M.D. from the
University of Chicago Medical School, his M.S. in Biophysics & Theoretical
Biology from the University of Chicago and his B.A. in Biology
from Grinnell College. |
|
| Eugene Michaels, Ph.D. |
| Dr. Michaels is currently the Chairman of
the Department of Instructional Technologies at San Francisco
State University. He also teaches classes at San Francisco
State on Instructional Systems Design, Theoretical Foundations
of Instructional Technology and History and Theory of Educational
Technology. Dr. Michaels has developed comprehensive training
programs for life science/healthcare companies such as Genentech
and Kaiser; top corporations such as Wells Fargo Bank, Levi
Strauss and Company and Apple; and academic institutions such
as San Francisco State, Sonoma State and the University of
Iran. He has published numerous research, educational and project
reports on topics such as "Why Educational Technology
must become Informational Technology", "Instructional
Systems in General Education", "Considerations on
the Design of an Instructional System for Employer-Based Career
Education". Dr. Michaels has also lectured all over the
world on Instructional Design. |
| Dr. Michaels received his Ph.D. in Instructional
Systems Design from Indiana University. |

human resources group since ALZA's HR function was created.
During this time, ALZA has gone from a 280-employee subsidiary
of CIBA-GEIGY to its present size and complexity, with 2500
employees and over $1billion in revenue. Fethe has done original
research or written articles for management journals, scholarly
journals in science and linguistics, and urban newspapers and
other media. His expertise and work experience include modeling
of complex phenomena in social and physical sciences, psychometrics
and performance measurement, and writing and the training of
writers. He was a founding advisory board member for a woman-owned
business, LinguaTec, which teaches English as a Second Language
in corporate settings. He was selected as a mentor in the first
San Francisco Bay Area Menttium chapter, a mentoring program
for women professionals on management career tracks, and has
served in the Menttium program since that time |
| Mr. Fethe received his B.A. from the University
of Florida and his M.A. in Social and Cultural Anthropology
from San Francisco State University |
|
| Paul Volberding, M .D. |
| Dr. Volberding is currently a Professor of
Medicine at the University of California - San Francisco (UCSF)
and Principal Investigator/Co-Director of UCSF's Center for
AIDS Research |
| Dr. Volberding is one of the leading AIDS
experts in the world, and has authored many research publications
that have appeared in periodicals such as the New England Journal
of Medicine (NEJM) and the Journal of the American Medical
Association (JAMA). He co-founded one of the first AIDS clinics
in the early 1980's at San Francisco General Hospital, and

Academy of Sciences (Institute of Medicine) AIDS Policy Review
Steering Committee, American Medical Association AIDS Panel,
and the NIH AIDS Drug Selection Committee. |
| Dr. Volberding received his B.A. in Biology
from the University of Chicago and his M.D. from the University
of Minnesota. He also did his residency in Internal Medicine
at the University of Utah Medical Center and completed a fellowship
